War updates from the Amhara Region, Ethiopia: October 27th to November 2nd, 2025
The week of October 27th to November 2nd, 2025, witnessed ongoing conflict between the Amhara Fano self-defense force (Fano) and the Prosperity Party regime's joint forces in various parts of the Amhara Region. This week's events were particularly intense, with battles recorded in over 34 woreda/city administrations across 10 zonal administrations.
The affected zones included North Wollo, South Wollo, North Shewa, East Gojjam, West Gojjam, Awi, North Gojjam, South Gonder, Central Gonder, and West Gonder. Additionally, developments were noted in Addis Ababa city and the East Arsi Zone of the Oromia Region.
Civilian casualties were a tragic reality, occurring in 6 woreda/city administrations across 3 zonal administrations. These casualties were reported in Raya-Kobo, Efratana-Gidim, Debre-Tabor, Tach-Gayint, Fogera, and Libo-Kemkem Woredas, located in the North Wollo, North Shewa, and South Gonder Zones. Furthermore, civilian casualties were also reported in the East Arsi Zone of the Oromia Region, attributed to attacks by unidentified militants targeting followers of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church (EOTC).
Arbitrary arrests were a concerning development, with reports of Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF) forces detaining civilians, including a religious leader affiliated with the EOTC, in Raya-Alamata Woreda of the North Wollo Zone. Additionally, regime forces were implicated in abductions in North Mecha and Fogera Woredas of the North Gojjam and South Gonder Zones, while further abductions were reported in Guna, Enkole-Wabe, and Sherka Woredas of the East Arsi Zone in Oromia.
The Wollo Raya Amhara Identity and Border Restoration Committee issued a statement, highlighting the human rights violations committed by TPLF forces and the Tigrayan settler administration against communities in Korem city, Alamata city, Raya-Alamata Woreda, Raya-Bala Woreda, and surrounding areas.
