Pittsburgh Steelers Head Coach Candidate in the Running for Dolphins Job
The Pittsburgh Steelers' head coach candidate, Jeff Hafley, has emerged as the favorite for the Miami Dolphins' head coaching job, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. This development comes as a surprise, given Hafley's recent success with the Packers' defense, which has been a topic of discussion among football enthusiasts.
Hafley's connection to Miami is significant. He has worked with the new general manager, Jon-Eric Sullivan, in Green Bay, providing him with an inside track to the Dolphins job. The two will have a second in-person interview next week, further strengthening Hafley's position as a top contender.
However, Hafley's defensive prowess is not without its challenges. With a background in defensive backs, Hafley's expertise lies in the secondary. He held the position of secondary coach at Pitt from 2008 to 2010 and served as a defensive assistant for two additional seasons before that. Additionally, Hafley's playing career included a stint as a wide receiver at Siena, and he has previous NFL experience as a defensive backs coach with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Cleveland Browns, and San Francisco 49ers.
