South Carolina's Football Recruitment Boost: A Former NFL Executive Joins the Team
South Carolina's football program is set to benefit from the addition of a seasoned NFL executive, Rex Hogan, to its recruitment and personnel department. GamecockCentral.com has exclusively revealed this move, which is expected to significantly enhance the team's player evaluation processes.
Hogan's specific role and title are yet to be confirmed, but his expertise is anticipated to be invaluable. His most recent position was as the Director of College Scouting at Auburn for the 2025 season, showcasing his deep understanding of the college football landscape.
Hogan's NFL career began with the Chicago Bears, where he served as an area and national scout from 2003 to 2015. Prior to this, he worked at Notre Dame in recruiting and operations, and even had a brief stint as Urban Meyer’s Director of Football Operations at Utah in 2003. His diverse experience at both the college and professional levels makes him a versatile asset.
The recruitment and personnel department in Columbia is led by Director of Player Personnel and Recruiting Darren Uscher, with Brian Bachman as his right-hand man. Jessica Jackson, Shane Beamer's Director of On-Campus Recruiting, is supported by Alley Brokaw. Additionally, Clyde Wrenn, a college football veteran, continues to serve as the program’s Director of High School Relations.
Two new additions to the team are Brandon Middleton and Sam Serbay, who were promoted to Director of Recruiting positions for defense and offense, respectively, in July 2024. With Hogan's arrival, the team is poised to elevate its recruitment and player evaluation strategies, potentially leading to significant improvements in the program's performance.
